Historical Background
After the beginning of the First World War SMS HELA was part of the 4th Scouting Group (IV. Aufklärungsgruppe) and had ordered to secure the German Bight. The ship take part at the Battle of Heligoland at 28.08. 1914. The HELA sunk at 13.09. 1914 south off Heligoland through Torpedo from British submarine E 9. Two crew members died.
