Long Night of Culture on September 4, 2021
Night owls and culture vultures are in the right place at the German Maritime Museum for the "Long Night of Culture" on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Various activities will take place in the museum and on the grounds. The cog hall will remain open until 0 o'clock that evening, the ships until 8 o'clock. Admission: pay what you want. The colorful program appeals to families, film as well as dance fans and of course ship lovers.
Harbour rally for families
Young and old visitors can go on an expedition through the museum harbor of the German Maritime Museum: Between 5 and 8 p.m., rally sheets will be handed out at the museum, with which families can discover many unknown and surprising things in the Old Port on their own. Those who decipher all the clues and solve the riddle will receive a small surprise.
Start: 5 to 8 p.m. at the sailor's arm in front of the museum
Expedition Old Port
Participants of this guided tour explore the grounds of the museum harbor together and look at ships, buildings and equipment that bear traces of technical developments and historical events in the history of shipping. A walk through the museum's outdoor area leads to unique originals - from the DIVA to the smokestack of the OTTO HAHN.
Start: 8 p.m. at the Seemansarm in front of the museum
Night Ride - Maritime short films
A highlight of the "Long Night of Culture" at the German Maritime Museum is the Night Ride by Bremen Bike It: The team organizes bike cinema under the starry sky around the museum. With the projector on the cargo bike, it goes to different spots on the grounds. After a short introduction and exciting facts about the film and the museum, maritime short films flicker on. After the short screenings, the audience gets on their bikes and follows the film crew to the next stop. Nice to have: popcorn and picnic blanket on the carrier.
Start from 21 o'clock at the sailor arm
Wellerman dance and hip hop at the FRAME
The luminous frame (FRAME) at the extension of the German Maritime Museum is very popular when it gets dark. Young dancers use the light art as a frame for their performance. For the "Long Night of Culture", the FRAME becomes a stage: the Beer Dance School presents a dance to a current shanty, the Wellerman song, with instructions on how to join in. At 22.30 o'clock HipHop dancers will give their performance in this framework to the best.
Start: 21.30 and 22.30 respectively
Meeting point: Extension building
